Eduardo Souto de Mouras’ exact
observation of nature and his grasp of the character
of a landscape is the premise for the harmony
with which his architecture fits into the scenery.
After a few moments of meditation in the forrest
he starts to make first sketches. In his first
drafts he works with the element of a rectangular
bar that stretches to the outer edge of the natural
plateau. Different themes in the landscape inspire
him to create vistas that will be framed by windows
and give the impression of well-balanced landscape
paintings. Each room will have its own unique
view.
